About 2 years ago, I weighted 160lbs heavier than I am now. I lost a lot of it, due to training in jiu jitsu, a style called aikijiujitsu. In the process, I have gained a love for the "Art" of martial arts. Both the beauty of "Aiki" and the elegance of jiu jitsu.
Recently, My friend and I decided we want to learn more about BJJ. Lucky for me , Alliance BJJ is 6 miles from my home. I signed up. And this is a journal of the learning experience.
Day One, First class. I was really nervous. I had no real idea what to expect or what would it be like. I am from a very traditional japanesse school but , I quickly learned its very relax, laid back , and respectful here. The first drill, I done many times before something similar but not from that position. It was good to see a new perspective. Second drill, I need a lot of help on. The partner I started out with, guided me through it, and got my past my bad habits. Through out the class, I recieved constant instruction on the proper way of doing techniques.
